Acer Aspire easyStore H340 Network Server

aspire-easystore-h340The Acer Aspire easyStore H340 is a network storage device that supports up to four terabytes of storage, yet it is quiet and small enough that it can fit on a home office desk; you won’t know it’s there.

The H340 NAS uses only the basic features of Windows Home Server (WHS) as its operating system. The Acer Aspire H340 offers some welcome conveniences like support for DLNA appliances, and the inclusion of an iTunes server.

The operating system is Windows Home Server, based on Microsoft’s robust Windows Server 2003 operating system. This means that it’s got some pretty powerful underpinnings but thankfully Microsoft put a pretty consumer-friendly face on it.

Setup is relatively easy, but can be finicky if there’s any unusual DNS or DHCP settings. Novice users may have some challenges during setup, but with a little assistance from your local networking geek, installation should flow fairly smoothly.
