Photovoltaic Circuit- Self Powered

A big break through in technology was unveiled when a group of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania created the world’s fist self powering photovoltaic circuit. This device is able to power consumer devices such as touch screens without any battery or other power source. The power is manifested through a beam of direct sunlight which acts a charger to recharge the device.

The device is not strong enough as yet to replace batteries at this time as the power level it manifests is too low, but as the technology improves, so does its efficiency and ability to replace many hazardous carbon based power sources. In instances where sunlight is completely unavailable a backup power supply would be used to regenerate power on the device.

Commercial use of this product may be many years out in the future, but the concept is no longer a fairy tale as researchers have clearly proved that the concept is now a reality. Watch for the future use of this product as clearly this device will change the future of Information Technology by reducing the size and use of many devices. Batteries and other such devices may be a thing of the past as their shelf life is visibly shorten by this introduction.
